Vynova Runcorn supports Cheshire Scouts Chamboree

Vynova Runcorn has made a donation of £1,500 to the Cheshire Scouts to support the organisation of their 2022 Chamboree. The Chamboree will bring together over 6,000 young people from across the UK and overseas in Cheshire this summer for a week-long camp of learning and developing skills for life. Vynova’s donation will be used to help realize the Earth Zone, the camp's Global Development Village dedicated to global issues such as equality, the environment and social justice.

Every four years, Cheshire Scouts organise Chamboree, a Scout and Guide camp in Cheshire for young people aged 5 to 18. This year’s event runs from 30 July to 6 August.

Matt Morris, Assistant Commissioning Manager at Vynova Runcorn, who is also an Explorer Scout Leader with the local scouting group, explained: “For many participants this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet other young people from across the world. One aspect of the event is the Global and Adventure Zones. The objective of these zones is to help young people learn about global issues and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as to explore personal and collective identity and to encourage them to step out of their comfort zones through adventure.”

Vynova Runcorn recognized how its company values are well aligned with the values and goals of the Scouting community and the Chamboree. “Two of our four core values in particular, Connect and Respect, run throughout the Chamboree’s programme. In addition, Vynova shares the event’s strong focus on sustainability. We are therefore delighted to connect with the local community by financially supporting the 2022 Chamboree”, commented Irene Robertson, Site Manager at Vynova Runcorn.

Matt Morris and one of his Scouting colleagues, Oli Chambers, met with Vynova Runcorn Site Manager Irene Robertson and HR Manager Kate Jennings to accept the donation with the handover of a symbolic cheque.
