UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

At Vynova, we actively align our sustainability efforts with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a universal blueprint for peace, prosperity, and environmental protection.

Adopted by all United Nations Member States in September 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the SDGs set out an ambitious 15-year plan to achieve a more sustainable future by 2030.

We place particular emphasis on SDGs most critical to our operations and vision for a sustainable future. These include SDGs focused on climate actions, sustainable industry, infrastructure, and responsible production:

OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP

Whilst high environmental, safety and quality management controls are applied throughout the plastics industry, unintentional loss of plastics pellets and powder can occur at different stages along the value chain and end up in the environment.

The voluntary Operation Clean Sweep®  (OCS) programme was developed to help companies tackle this issue and prevent plastic pellet and powder leakage by providing a series of key recommendations and tools.

Vynova has been a signatory to the OCS pledge since 2016 and we have implemented a variety of measures addressing PVC powder loss at our sites, including regular audits and communication campaigns.

In 2023, a harmonised European certification scheme was launched as a new tool in the OCS toolbox. The OCS Europe Certification Scheme proves compliance with a set of measures to prevent the loss of plastic powder and pellets to the environment, implemented in the framework of the OCS programme.

All Vynova PVC production sites are certified under the OCS Europe Certification Scheme. You can download the respective certificates via the following links:

VINYLPLUS 2030 COMMITMENT

We are a dedicated member of VinylPlus®, the European PVC industry’s commitment to sustainable development, and actively support the organisation and its goals as summarized in the VinylPlus 2030 Commitment.

The Commitment represents the European PVC industry’s sustainability roadmap to 2030 and is built around three Pathways:

  • Pathway 1: Scaling up PVC value chain circularity;
  • Pathway 2: Advancing towards carbon neutrality and minimising our environmental footprint;
  • Pathway 3: Building global coalitions and partnering for the Sustainable Development Goals.

The three Pathways are further broken down into twelve action areas that outline concrete steps to be taken by the European PVC industry for the sustainable development of PVC.

The actions, strategy and goals for our five Sustainability Focus Areas have been developed in line with the VinylPlus 2030 Commitment:

  • Our Circularity Focus Area aligns with the targets set out in Pathway 1.
  • Our Climate Action and Environmental Responsibility Focus Areas are guided by the goals of Pathway 2.
  • Our People & Society and Responsible Procurement Focus Areas reflect ambitions set out in Pathway 3.
