As our Strategic Buyer Logistics, you'll play a pivotal role in enhancing our procurement activities related to transport and logistics.


You will optimize our supply chains and ensure seamless logistics operations. In doing so, you will be working across several functions and serve as the link between Supply Chain and external suppliers.


Tasks / responsibilities


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting and implementing procurement strategies for our logistical suppliers, leveraging market insights and identifying opportunities to enhance internal processes.
  • Building strong relationships, both internally and with suppliers.
  • Negotiating to improve processes and create cost efficiencies.
  • Managing supplier relationships, certification programs, and tracking key performance indicators to ensure service level improvements.
  • Leading or participating in cross-functional teams to address logistical challenges and contingency planning.

Reporting directly to the VP Supply Chain, you'll be at the forefront of driving strategic initiatives and shape our supply chain landscape.


  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics or Economics.
  • You have at minimum of 5 years of experience as a buyer in logistics and transportation with expertise in road and rail transportation. (maritime experience is a plus).
  • You have proficiency in strategic sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationship management.
  • You have excellent communication and (international) stakeholder management skills.
  • You are stress- resistant and have strong planning and organizational skills.
  • You are a self-starter who can manage projects. Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • You develop a strong business understanding.
  • You have strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • You work fluently with MS Office and have knowledge of ERP system (preferably SAP).
  • Proficiency in English and an eagerness to learn Dutch is necessary. Knowledge of French and German is a plus.
  • You are willing to work regularly in our Tessenderlo site and to travel to our sites and transport partners occasionally (10%).
